Birds of America will be released on DVD (region 1) on October 21, 2008.
Set in Cheever country of upper-middle class suburban Connecticut, the story involves older brother Morrie (Matthew Perry) and the two siblings, Jay (Ben Foster) and Ida (Ginnifer Goodwin), he raised after his father jumped out of the window of the family house and killed himself. Now a grown up physics professor living with his wife (Lauren Graham), Morrie has never gotten over the trauma and a life of being responsible for others.

I guess they didn’t find a distributor for this movie. I’m glad we will be able to buy it on DVD but I feel bad that it won’t get the media attention.
WTF?! It’s like all the movies he’s been doing as of late have gone straight to DVD!

Well at least we get to see it on DVD which I will be purchasing!! 
Yes but the people who aren’t big “Matthew Fans” will never even know it’s out there unless they stumble upon it by accident. I wonder if any of these movies that go straight to DVD get played on TNT, Showtime HBO etc…?

Like I said in Shoutbox, It’s a shame because his performance will not be as likley to garner the Acadamy Award attention that I’m sure it will deserve.
Martha, if this movie gets any TV play, it’ll probably be on something like The Sundance Channel or the Indpendent Film Channel which unfortunally, most people do NOT get unless they have digital cable or satelite.
And you know what ticks me off so much, a great movie like this gets sent straight to DVD and juvinile crap like Madascar II gets sent right to the theaters (and we all know that’s going to suck because sequels aren’t as good as the orginals).
It’ll be on TV…but not on a channel that most people get. It’ll probably be on something like The Sundance Channel which most people can only get if they have sattelite TV. ANd that REALLY grinds my gears because they will allow pure crap to shown in the theaters but the good stuff is always a “direct to DVD” deal. And I thought this would end up in the theaters because of Hillary Swank’s involvment in the project. Guess you gotta be some smug a-hole like George Clooney in order to get any box-office respect.

Hate to say it saik but good for your mom. There are some things in that movie that aren’t meant for young ones. Me, I’m an old lady so I’ve seen it all and heard it all lol.
