Here’s a snippet from a Zac Efron’s interview with Seventeen magazine about the movie Seventeen Again starring Matthew Perry.
“This is the first time I don’t relate to my character, though,” he [Zac] said. “I mean, I can’t really relate to a 37-year-old man!” Although, in the scene in which he tries to tell his daughter that he’s really her dad, he does a pretty good job of imitating his older self, Matthew Perry. The producer even told us that Zac sometimes calls Matthew during scenes for line readings (what a serious actor!).
Here’s another snippet from MTV.com. I also added the MTV.com interview where you can see a few scenes from the movie, unfortunately none with Matthew.
?Matthew has a very dry sense of humor,? Efron understated. ?I guess if there was anything I had to work on, it was probably [emulating] that.?

In the writing above the video clip, when Zac says Matthew has a dry sense of humour, is that good or bad? I really dont know what it is
I think a dry sense of humour is a sarcastic sense of humour.
Which Matthew is known for! I love sarcastic humor…it kills me! When you watch “Friends” you can get a sense of his humor…he contributed to a lot of the jokes on the show. I watch the DVD’s special features and both creators said they went to him for input and jokes. As well as the other cast members…don’t want to offend anyone! I’ve also heard or read his sense of humor is legendary. I don’t remember where I heard or read this, though.
Matthew was the only Friends cast member who was allowed into script meetings.
@juleskay….How do you know that he was the only one allowed into the script meetings?
It was said by the producer on the Friends DVD on an interview.
Thanks Martha. I’ve been trying to remember where I heard it from!
I remember hearing that too. Thanks for letting me know what a dry sense of humour was, I was really baffled. I have a sarcastic sense of humour but no-one ever told me that, that was a dry sense of humour. Can’t wait to see the movie. All my friends love Zac Efron and I love Matthew Perry so eventually the Americans got the casting right.
I’ll have to watch my DVD’s over again to hear that b/c I don’t remember hearing them say that. I just remember them saying they’ve involved all the cast members, maybe not during the script meetings, but during rehearsals. And that they’ve gone to Matthew for jokes all the time. Good excuse for me to watch the DVD’s again! Thanks!!
