Actor Matthew Perry has thanked his Seventeen Again co-star Zac Efron for inadvertently saving him from a group of raucous female fans.

The former Friends star was asked by the group to sign his autograph on their most intimate parts - but his blushes were spared when 20-year-old Efron walked by.

He explains, “The minute they saw Zac, all those lovely fleshy bits that were being waved in front of me vanished as they ran off screaming over to him.”

“Good luck to Zac - I don’t think I could handle all that adulation at my age.”

Here’s a snippet from a Zac Efron’s interview with Seventeen magazine about the movie Seventeen Again starring Matthew Perry.

“This is the first time I don’t relate to my character, though,” he [Zac] said. “I mean, I can’t really relate to a 37-year-old man!” Although, in the scene in which he tries to tell his daughter that he’s really her dad, he does a pretty good job of imitating his older self, Matthew Perry. The producer even told us that Zac sometimes calls Matthew during scenes for line readings (what a serious actor!).

Here’s another snippet from MTV.com. I also added the MTV.com interview where you can see a few scenes from the movie, unfortunately none with Matthew.

“Matthew has a very dry sense of humor,” Efron understated. “I guess if there was anything I had to work on, it was probably [emulating] that.”

Plucked from the “High School Musical” group, Zac Efron has emerged as one of the biggest actors in Hollywood right now.

And it’s his work in Hairspray with Adam Shankman that he’s getting even a larger teen-icon status. That’s because before they were even done shooting that movie, Adam decided to develop another movie specifically for Zac – Seventeen Again.

It’s sort of a reversed idea of Big; this time, Matthew Perry is playing the adult, and Zac plays the younger version. After going through a bit of a depression, and nearly ending his marriage to Leslie Mann, Matthew finds himself transformed into his younger self. As Zac, he goes back to high school, and realizes his life wasn’t that bad.

“Friends” star Matthew Perry is attending his first Sundance Film Festival to plug his starring role in “Birds of America,” Craig Lucas’ comedy about an emotionally shuttered man trying to help out his irresponsible younger siblings. So what does he think of Sundance so far?
“I really couldn’t tell you. I haven’t had a chance to do any Sundancy things,” Perry told the Salt Lake Tribune in a Monday afternoon interview beside the Park City Marriott’s indoor pool. “It’s beautiful [in Park City]. Not necessarily right in here,” he added, motioning to the chlorine-scented atrium.

Perry spent Sunday in Park City watching the NFL playoffs and most of Monday doing media interviews. He said he’ll miss Thursday’s “Birds of America” premiere because he’s returning to L.A. to shoot “Seventeen,” a comedy in which he plays a thirtysomething man who, disappointed with his life, goes back in time to correct his high-school mistakes.
“I turn into [Zac Efron],” said Perry of his “Seventeen” co-star. “It’s like ‘Big’ [in reverse].”
